ASKAIC is the Australian Square Kilometre Array Industry Consortium. The consortium assumes a strategic role for industry to collaborate to support ASKAP development and win the SKA for the region.
iVEC is a member of ASKAIC, in the role of representing Western Australian SMEs at the national level. This gives local industry a central voice to collaborate with interstate companies, as well as research and government organisations.

Jun 2010. The Federal Government has announced $47.3 million in funding for renewable energy use for the Murchison Radio Astronomy Observatory and the Pawsey Centre. The Pawsey Centre component will explore the use of hot deep aquifers for cooling supercomputers. Full details in Minister Carr's press release.

Mar 2010. Australian company Sapphicon Semiconductor Pty Ltd was selected by CSIRO to jointly develop a radio receiver on a chip.

Mar 2010. The first ASKAP antenna at Boolardy Station received its first signal.
Feb 2010. The Request for Tender to lay approximately 380km of optical fibre between Geraldton and Boolardy has been announced.

10 July 2009. A workshop was held at CSIRO ATNF about ASKAP technical computing. Slides are available from the documents page.
29 May 2009. A research industry workshop was held in Sydney on 29 May. Slides from some of the presentations are available.
12 May 2009. The federal government announced $80.0 million for the Australian National Centre of SKA Science in Perth. The money will go towards a facility for high performance computing and associated expertise, for space and other high end science. Link to the media release.
